No Dig, No Disruption: Modern Solutions for Aging Pipes
There is no doubt that any type of plumbing work can be disruptive to your daily routine. The more extensive the issue, the worse the disruption can be. This is especially true when there is an issue with the main sewer line in your home. It carries every drain you have and it can be a major pain in the neck when there are problems with it.
Recently we had a customer in Carthage with a very big issue. Their home had been moved into place in 1936 which means the cast iron sewer lines under their beautiful tile basement floor were 88 years old and had long lived out their usefulness. In fact, there were large sections of the pipe that had the bottom 1/3 completely rotted away and gone. Typically this means sawing the floor and replacing the pipe with new PVC. However, this customer did not want to cut up the floor of their finished basement and/or deal with the mess an excavation of that size would make. So we decided on a trenchless no-dig technology that we could use to restore the pipe from outside the house.
This process uses a fiberglass style sock and resin to, literally, build a new pipe inside the old pipe. The project was finished with minimal entry into the home and the owner could not be happier. This new pipe will be trouble free for much longer than the 88 years the cast iron pipe lasted.
